BEACH KORFBALL
Beach korfball is a fast paced and exciting variant of korfball first played just over 10 years ago.
Beach korfball maintains some fundemental principles of korfball in gendered marking, the defended rule, and controlled-contact.
There are some key differences when comparing beach korfball with traditional korfball.
As opposed to traditional korfball, beach korfball teams only have 2 female-identifying and 2 male-identifying players on the court at any one time.
In beach korfball, teams are not split into attack and defence zones. Instead, all 4 players work on both attack and defence, depending on which team has the ball.
Due to its fast paced nature with a constant battle between all eight players on court, games are split into four 6 minute quarters and rolling substitues are used throughout the match.
Beach korfball is a controlled-contact sport, with either restarts or penalty shots awarded for infringements.
